DJ Kev Sakoda(Brooklyn, NY) – “Word up. That Autolect is kinda hot. I've been playing it on the show at least once every other week.”
August 25
Beyond’s The Redaration debuts on CMJ’s top 25 album charts in the nation at # 23.
DJ Jely (WIKS) Greenville, NC – “Beyond is on our regular playlist now. There is definitely something about that cat. The ladies have been calling into our show asking who his is when we play him on our show.”
Carolyn Fox (KHZ Radio) Los Angeles, CA – “I did receive Beyond's "The Redaration" CD. And on June 30th, I played "The Rhedoric" as the third tune of the show.”
Nate Abney (WKDU) Philadelphia, PA – “I like Beyond's album especially the 9th tracks…the second half all of a sudden is just hot.”
DJ Enigma (WXCI) Danbury, CT – “Redaration is a solid record. I think there is pretty good production and lyrics on this album...it will get medium spins on my show.”
Jason D (KHDC / RadioBoise.org) Boise, ID – “I played the hell out of rain, sleet, hail, snow”
Anilast (KSMT) Frisco, CO – “Redaration - Beyond- This album is complete, ireally didn't feel like it had much filler to it. As a matter of fact this album is dope. From the rhymes to the beats the overall production is tight. I appreciate it's honesty and so does my listeners.”
August 15
DJ Ceph (WPRK / Club Firestone) Winter Park, FL – “Beyond – Redaration, This record is straight heat! This one hit me while I was sleeping. Tight production skills run the gamut at Beyond laces the tracks both gritty and conscious.”
Brandon "@Large" Ungarian (CJUM / dopespot.podomatic.com) Winnipeg, MB, Canada – “Beyond: The Redaration - I was a little disappointed in the production. It's has a live instrumentation feel with some of the programming but it's too clean and rigid. It's still a solid record though and it's getting lots of spins. I'm always disappointed when the best cuts on an album we're previously released as singles.”
DJ J French (KPSU) Portland, OR – “Beyond will be on our adds for next week and join in on the charts. This is a very good album, I'm very impressed with it. Thanks.”
August 1st
Kasino Marxs (WODU) Virginia Beach, VA – “I'm listening to Beyond right now, son got some hits. . . I'm gonna tell you right now tho. . . "SPREAD LOVE" should be the single right now!!! "Rain Sleet Hell Snow" is dope to. I'm gonna email you thorough feedback later.”
Jonathan "DJ Wigs" Ives (WUTK) Knoxville, TN – “This is a solid album. This cat is nice with his, on the lyrical tip and solidifies it with a good ear for production. He's been added to regular rotation at the station. If I can get some wax I can show it mix show love.”
Josh Cahoon (WBGA) Missoula, MT – “I really dig Beyond's "The Redaration" that you sent, from the solid production to Beyond's lyrics and delivery, it's been getting lots of plays since adding it to our playlist. I'd love to hear more of what you've got up and coming at saucypromotions!”
July 18th
Last week “The Redaration” was being pushed for Adds on all charts and trades. As a result, Beyond appeared in the CMJ, RapNetwork, and RapAttackLives Charts for their Top 5 Adds! This week it moves up a notch to the 28th spot on Rapattacklives.com! Look for the album on Itunes next week!
BEYOND “THE REDARATION” FEEDBACK(What the stations/dj’s are saying”:
DJ Lokash (WNHU) – “I just got that Beyond CD in the mail, I'll check it out...”
Ketan Shankardass (KSCR) Los Angeles, CA – “I just got the Beyond promo (The Rederation CD) in the mail and it’s hot. This is right up my alley, and – genuinely – it’s one of the surprises of the year for me (considering I’ve never heard of Beyond before!). I was particularly impressed with the production, which is gritty and not boring. In particular, I was expecting to not like the 9th Wonder joints but they were nicely done. Beyond comes off as a proper, straight-up MC, too. Nothing too futuristic, and nothing too cliche. Thanks for the service - this will get lots of play on my show. Let us know when you’re going for airplay, etc.” -- The Harlem River Drive-By Show
DJ Tim D (KZSU) Oakland, CA – “Got the Beyond CD today. Thank you!
Adam Lowenstein (WMHB) Waterville, ME – “Beyond - That Feelin' - This track has a great laid back feel that seems especially appropriate for summertime cruisin. Beyond has a really casual flow that's definitely on point. I love the flow on this one! Beyond - The R - Classic underground feel from Beyond on this joint! His lyrical ability really shines on this one too -I'd never heard music from Beyond before this, and I'm really impressed with his rhyme style. Super solid production too! I'm really diggin this track!”
DJ E-Nygma (WBRS) Boston, MA – “Redaration charted Top 10 this week on our end... you should be getting a CMJ mailer from me soon, if it hasn't already arrived...”
DJ Sabatoge (WRTC) CT – “I will definitely be adding Beyond this week.”

Following two years of tedious work, Beyond's album THE REDARATION will arrive late this summer, making this the third of his lyrical creations. Rodney Mills, acclaimed producer of forty years, mastered the album after Beyond summoned over a half dozen of North Carolina’s finest producers to work with him. Fans were prepared when they heard two chart-topping singles debuted in 2005, but most NC hip-hop heads have been familiar with Beyond’s music for a decade or more.
“Sugar”, a single produced by 9th Wonder, listed number seven on national college hip-hop charts and was heard on numerous mixshows. This small success led to distribution deals internationally, where over 1,000 12” singles were sold. Another single, "Rain Sleet Hell Snow" charted #1 on rapattacklives.com.
Crossing musical genres, keen listeners would classify him as a prodigy due to his mastery of the trombone, tuba, baritone, saxophone, percussion, trumpet, f-horn, and even ivory keys of the piano. Having had pleasure of opening for the Chromosome Project, KRS ONE, The Beatnuts, and “Mr. Cheeks” in Raleigh, Beyond made a name for himself throughout the southeast. His music can be downloaded through itunes and official artist page can be viewed here:

BROWN JAMES – PLAIN BROWN RAPPER
New signee to Xtra Infinit records Brown James comes off like something of a veteran on his confident and accomplished debut set. With a clear vocal tone and some strong subject matter Brown James is certainly looking to make his mark with tracks like the head-nodding ‘Close 2 Da Most.’ Keeping things personal Brown James opts not to call on a slew of guests to aid this effort with ‘ADayInTheLife’ being the sole posse cut in this 15-track outing. Meanwhile, the production from lesser knowns like Jihad, D.O.X., Poe and Autolect bumps like the work of many a big name producer. Definitely worth checking out Brown James has delivered a platter to get tucked into. -Slim

Beyond's new album quickly approaches. All of the Rhedoric is complete and the finished version resonates THE REDARATION. It has been in the works creatively and technically for nearly 2 years. Rodney Mills in the Atlanta area recently mastered the album. Rodney has been producing records for 40 years with major label platinum and gold releases under his belt. He now masters full time and has been doing so for 13 years now. Beyond has enlisted a variety of North Carolina producers to produce the music for The REDARATION including the likes of D.O.X.(XI/Murksville,Doxkingdom), 9th Wonder(Little Brother/Atlantic Records), Dan Datilles(BrutherMonk), Cockpit(21strecords), DJ Skaz(Butta Team), K.Slack(Thyrday), and more. He also teams up with crew Brown James on a couple tracks while Wood of Duo, Capital U, Choc Watson, and Luv stop thru to drop heat vocabulary to the album. Beyond has prepared the world for THE REDARATION by dropping 2 singles in 2005 including "Sugar" produced by 9th Wonder which lofted his music to the listenable arena by charting #7 on the national college singles hip hop chart and securing 4 different distribution deals allowing over 1000 "Sugar" 12"s to be sold internationally. The record also enjoyed commercial mixshow radio success on the east coast as well as strong college radio spins. Beyond's 2nd record, "Rain Sleet Hell Snow" released near the end of the year recently hit the #1 spot on the college radio hip hop singles charts. ref: rapattacklives.com The album is on the way to manufacturing and should produce retail ready units by the end of january. the exact release date is unknown, although it is highly likely the album will release between Mar-Apr. A clean promo in-store listening version is scheduled to ship to radio and retail reps in early Feb. preorders available soon.

North Carolina smashes you again with Beyond's first international 12" release “SUGAR”(4th overall). Produced by Little Brother sensation 9th Wonder, the lead track bangs with hip hop soul as the 10+ year MC and long time NC show organizer brings his story to the table. The b-side--"High Hopes" --features Capital U on the hook and 21st records beatsmith Cockpit lacing the joint as this one gets crunkish. "Sit Back"-The bonus track is produced by Xtra Infinit's main producer D.O.X. and brings the groove back with more of what XI has in store for the world. more info at

What the dj's say about BEYONDS "Sugar"
Produced by: 9th Wonder (Jay Z's "Black Album)
"Sugar" is a nice lil' jam. 9th comes with a nice bump. Beyond kinda sounds like a southern Aesop Rock...cool joint for the mix. I dig this. "Sit Back" hit me...Then it just all came together….. pretty solid... El Keter ben Tzadik WTCC
his voice is cool...JON?DOE KCPR
Liking the joint….great production...Fam has potential….Marcel, WREK~WRAS
This track is cool... "Sit back": The message is dope…the track as a whole has a good vibe...DJ A-Beats
Anything produced by 9th, i'm kind of hyped over. ..Beyond makes up with his flow. . Beyond sounds like Humpy Hump a little....reminds me of DU.Darin Gloe KOMG - Saturday Night Traffic Jam
definitely is held down production wise thanks to the work of 9th Wonder. "High Hopes" has a retro kind of sound (like some old Sir Jinx - Ice Cube track)... Edgie WUNH 91.3 FM

Upon arriving in Raleigh in 1997, Beyond immediately immersed himself in the rather small hip hop scene. With few avenues and North Carolina hip hop still in its infancy stages, the scientist, along with partner and fellow ECU graduate J. Wright, vowed to get their weight up by doing what NC lacked, hip hop showcases. They began to solicit local clubs to rent out their slow nights for hop shows. The grind continued by networking with any and all DJs at radio, clubs, mixtapes, etc. while
providing an actual outlet for aspiring artists from all over. Of course it started off slow with slow money, losses, heartache, but over time, XI singlehandedly developed the triangle into an immerging hotbed for hip hop music. the track record speaks for itself and can be viewed at http://www.xtra-infinit.com. Their history boasts 50+ shows in the last 10 years and became a cornerstone of NC hip hop with legendary showcase series like the monthly "Liquid Flowz" and "Microphone Mondays@The 506" in addition to music releases such as 5 12" records, Nasty Beats Vol 1. cd, Duo...Come On In cd, Byonic cd,BTS-The Ambassadors cd, and more. Quite simply, the triangle became a premier hip hop mecca due to these showcases, offering audiences their 1st look at the majority of the artists from North Carolina and many artists first taste of the spotlight. |
